Manchester United’s chase for Bryan Mbeumo has hit a snag, and it’s all about the money. Brentford just turned up the heat, raising their asking price for the electric winger to £70 million a full £5m above United’s valuation.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Jason Wilcox thought they had this one in the bag. Mbeumo was ready to come, Brentford were hinting at a done deal, and a medical was even expected. But now? Brentford are digging in, using the one-year option on Mbeumo’s contract as leverage. And Ratcliffe isn’t having it he’s drawing the line at £65m.
United aren’t rushing. They want to move smart, not desperate. That means we might see some outgoings first – names like Rashford, Garnacho, Antony, Sancho, and even Malacia are all said to be open to leaving. Any sale could fund the final push for Mbeumo or another big target.

And speaking of strikers, United are still in the hunt for a No.9. Amorim already splashed £62.5m on Matheus Cunha, but he wants another gunman up top. Rumours are flying about Ollie Watkins being eyed up next.
Pre-season kicks off this Saturday in Stockholm vs Leeds, then it’s off to the US to face West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton. But in just over four weeks, Arsenal come to Old Trafford.
Tick-tock, transfer clock. This window is about to get crazy.
