Nuno Espírito Santo with Nottingham Forest players

West Ham Lose Faith in Nuno After Forest Defeat

West Ham United are losing confidence in manager Nuno Espírito Santo after another damaging defeat, this time against his former club Nottingham Forest.

The club is unhappy not only with results West Ham are now 10 games without a win but also with Nuno’s behaviour after Monday’s loss. Officials were frustrated to see him smiling and embracing Forest players, including Morgan Gibbs-White, moments after a late defeat that left West Ham deep in relegation trouble.

Although Nuno had strong relationships at Forest, figures inside West Ham felt he should have avoided public reunions on the pitch while his own team’s situation grows increasingly desperate. Morale at the training ground is said to be low, with players and staff reportedly unhappy with tactics and man-management.

Nuno has won just two of his 16 matches since replacing Graham Potter in September. Club owner David Sullivan is believed to be unhappy, though West Ham are hesitant to sack another manager so soon after Julen Lopetegui and Potter.

Despite backing Nuno in the transfer market including big-money moves for Pablo Felipe and Taty Castellanos results have not improved. Veteran striker Callum Wilson is now in talks to leave the club.

West Ham face Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup before a crucial league clash against Tottenham Hotspur. Defeat against Spurs could prove decisive for Nuno, with Slaven Bilic already linked to a possible return.
