Mikel Arteta stated Arsenal’s players were “gutted” after losing to Bayern Munich and missing a Champions League semi-final since 2009. Joshua Kimmich’s second-half goal secured a 3-2 aggregate triumph.
Arsenal looked devastated after the match, as Arteta conceded they lost a close match. He stated the dressing room is gutted. Disappointed, we are. We must endure it. We played an experienced team. Through the tie, margins were small.”
Arsenal lost against Aston Villa on Sunday, falling two points behind Manchester City in the Premier League title chase. Bayern’s top-level experience won, but Arteta said a last-eight finish is progress and it may take years to reach their opponents’ level.

“We haven’t played this competition for seven years and weren’t in this stage for 14 years,” he remarked. There’s a reason. We want to rapid-forward everything in one season. Due to the narrow margins, I believe we can reach the semi-finals.
“Those margins may come from something we don’t have. We must learn it. It took other clubs seven, eight, or 10 years historically. No way that will make us feel better today.”
Arsenal’s chances of winning a trophy this season have dimmed, but Arteta said domestic honors are still possible. They play Wolves at Molineux on Saturday and he expects a response. “The pain will persist tonight, but by tomorrow we’ll be focused on Wolves and everyone will be lifted. What remains to play for is lovely.”
The success meant “a lot” to Thomas Tuchel, who will leave Bayern at the end of the season but might add to his 2021 Champions League championship with Chelsea. He praised his team’s “fantastic performance” in “pushing it over the line”.
