Tottenham’s Rodrigo Bentancur has given an encouraging update on his health following a concerning collapse against Liverpool that resulted in his removal from the game on a stretcher.
In the first half, Bentancur fainted under no challenge while chasing the ball down during a corner. After extensive treatment, he was carefully transferred to a stretcher, and Spurs stated at halftime of the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg that the midfielder was aware and speaking. He was brought to the hospital.
“All good, folks! “I appreciate the messages,” the Uruguayan remarked on his Instagram story. “Congratulations for the victory boys!!!”
Tottenham won 1-0 courtesy to a late strike from Lucas Bergvall. Liverpool were upset that the Swede had not been sent out shortly before for a tackle on Kostas Tsimikas, which could have resulted in a second yellow card. Tsimikas was still off the field when Bergvall scored.
While Liverpool licked their wounds, Postecoglou smiled with delight as Tottenham’s patched-up team held the Premier League leaders to a rare shutout.
“Yeah, very proud,” he replied. “Again, we had to face some hardship tonight. I think we started the game well. Then, of course, we lose Rodrigo, which was pretty distressing given the circumstances. Again, we had to gather our thoughts, cope with the situation, and reorganize. We are quite proud of the players. “I’ve been here all along.”
