Haaland Injury

City sends Haaland to a specialist for a ankle issue

Manchester City expect Erling Haaland to play again this season, despite the fact that his top scorer suffered a potentially catastrophic ankle injury in Sunday’s FA Cup triumph against Bournemouth, which would require “specialist consultation” to decide the length of his layoff.

Omar Marmoush replaced Haaland after 61 minutes at the Vitality Stadium. While the Egyptian scored the winner that advanced City to the semi-finals against Nottingham Forest, Haaland’s availability for the match, which will take place on either April 26 or 27th, remains uncertain.

It is also unknown whether the 24-year-old would be able to contribute to City’s Champions League qualification campaign. Pep Guardiola’s club is in fifth place with 48 points and nine games remaining.

A City statement: “Manchester City FC can confirm that Erling Haaland has injured his left ankle. Erling completed initial tests in Manchester on Monday morning and will now seek specialist advice to determine the exact degree of his condition.

Assessment is ongoing to provide a comprehensive prognosis.” Erling is expected to recover in time to play in the balance of this season, including this summer’s Fifa Club World Cup. Everyone in the club wishes Erling a fast recovery.
