England centurion Harry Kane still wants to prove critics wrong

After scoring a double in England’s 2-0 Nations League win over Finland on his 100th cap, Harry Kane claimed he wanted to prove people wrong.

The captain, who received a golden cap from Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard before kickoff at Wembley, was irritable on and off the pitch on Tuesday.

Kane, who has 68 international goals, lashed back at his detractors after his second-half demolition of Finland helped Lee Carsley preserve his winning start as England’s interim head coach.

“It was a big night for me,” Kane added. “I want to score and help the team. Doubt makes you want to prove people wrong. I always believe I can score goals and am optimistic.

“The new manager is energetic and talks about freedom, attacking, and hurting teams. He has space for improvement, but a good start.”

Kane, who shrugged off being substituted before completing a hat-trick, said criticism has driven him throughout his career. “It helps generally,” the striker stated. “I’ve always talked about using setbacks to motivate you.”

Carsley lauded Kane, who wants 100 England goals. Manager: “Harry took his goals really well. “He deserves all the praise. This week, I’ve noticed his drive to play for England and score goals. We wish to keep a centre-forward like that.”

The win maintained England’s dominance in Nations League Group B2, improving Carsley’s chances of keeping the position. 50-year-old: “I definitely don’t feel comfortable still.”

“Out of my comfort zone. It’s been fun, but we had to produce high-quality work every day. We’ve had two good results, so we’re building on that.”

Lille midfielder Angel Gomes stood out in his debut start. “Angel just performed the way we have seen him perform for England over the last two years that I have worked with him,” Carsley added.

We have witnessed a player who can control games. We benefit greatly from him.”

Carsley claimed he won’t contact Arsenal defender Ben White about returning until the camp next month.
