Haaland salary

Haaland had no concerns regarding Manchester City legal lawsuit

Erling Haaland did not consider the consequences of Manchester City’s legal defeat with the Premier League before signing a nine-and-a-half-year contract extension.

The league champions may face relegation if found guilty of 100+ financial rule violations. Haaland just expressed his trust in the club’s leaders to succeed.

City prepare for their Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain in Paris on Wednesday night. Both clubs face elimination if they fall below the 24th-place cut-off in the new table.

After a disappointing 13-game streak, City has been making moves in the transfer market and their star No. 9 has made a rare appearance in front of the media.

Haaland, relaxed and engaged, was questioned about his thoughts before signing the new agreement, which City revealed last Friday and is unparalleled in the Premier League. Had he sought reassurances that he could escape if the accusations were severe?

“No,” he laughed. I haven’t considered that. I trust the club. Indeed, ultimately… Perhaps I shouldn’t say much. I’ve been here 2.5 years, so I’m convinced the club knows what they’re doing.”

City has signed 19-year-old centre-half Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £29.5m. He joins 20-year-old Abdukodir Husanov from Lens as a central defender. Guardiola claimed both were ready to compete for Premier League minutes.

City are close to signing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Mamoush, which will take their January spending beyond £100m, and they want at least one more player. I doubt they would spend so much if relegation was a possibility.

City’s invincibility evaporated when they won only once in a 13-match streak that included losses at Sporting and Juventus and a home draw against Feyenoord, which cast doubt on their Champions League chances.

Four of the five games subsequently, and Haaland scored in the 6-0 win against Ipswich on Sunday to honor his new deal. City have defeated Ipswich, West Ham, and Leicester recently, but impressing against PSG is different. Their perfect record in Ligue 1 has been hampered by a challenging European schedule.

“I feel like [the club] has a really positive energy,” Haaland added. Everyone knows it’s been hard, but I feel energy. We’re training well, past that, and looking forward to tomorrow.”

Haaland expressed his satisfaction with the new contract, stating that it was uncommon and not typical, given his general contentment at City and in Manchester. He also adjusted his self-care routine this season, including “measuring my sleep just to make sure I slept really well”.

Guardiola announced that John Stones returned to the group after a one-month injury layoff, while Rodri traveled to participate to heal from an anterior cruciate ligament rupture. Kyle Walker, who wants to join Milan, is not in the squad.
