Liverpool are on a mission this summer. The Premier League champions have just snapped up Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth for £40 million, adding yet another weapon to Arne Slot’s growing arsenal.
Kerkez, who played 74 times for Bournemouth after his 2023 move from AZ Alkmaar, couldn’t hide his excitement:
“It’s a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, the biggest club in England.”
The 20-year-old Hungarian becomes Liverpool’s third major signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz.
Slot promised “extra weapons” to build on last season’s Premier League triumph, and he’s wasting no time. Throw in the incoming goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia on July 1, and Liverpool’s summer spending is now closing in on £200 million.
Slot’s blueprint is taking shape quickly. Frimpong is set to lock down the right flank possibly shifting Trent Alexander-Arnold into midfield permanently while Kerkez will battle Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas for the left-back slot. One of the current left-backs might well move on if the right offer arrives.
But Liverpool aren’t the only ones moving with purpose.
Manchester United are closing in on a £60 million-plus deal for Bryan Mbeumo, as Ruben Amorim is quietly building what could be one of the most dangerous frontlines in the Premier League. Mbeumo’s intelligence, movement, and sharp finishing could turn United’s attack into something genuinely scary.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are making some fascinating moves of their own, reportedly set to return Jadon Sancho for just £5 million while closing in on a £30 million deal for Liam Delap. It’s a surprising shuffle that shows Chelsea are not just splashing cash they’re playing the long game with clever, calculated decisions. Delap could be a quiet gem waiting to explode.
Back at Anfield, the transfer action might not be over yet. Liverpool have their eyes on Crystal Palace’s Marc Guéhi as they prepare for Jarell Quansah’s expected £35 million move to Bayer Leverkusen. And if Darwin Núñez moves on there’s real interest from both Italy and Saudi Arabia the Reds could finally go all-in for long-time target Alexander Isak.
And here’s a fun twist: Milos Kerkez now joins Dominik Szoboszlai and new goalkeeper Armin Pecsi as the third Hungarian in Liverpool’s squad. Hungary’s presence at Liverpool? It’s quietly becoming something special.
This summer isn’t just about big-money moves it’s about smart rebuilds, tactical upgrades, and clubs reshaping their identities. Liverpool are building a machine, Manchester United are assembling a frightening attack, and Chelsea are moving the chess pieces.
The Premier League title race next season? Buckle up it’s going to be absolutely electrifying.
