Dejan Kulusevski and Tottenham had a tough time during their 6-3 loss to Liverpool, but the team’s faith in Ange Postecoglou’s high-octane style, known as “Ange-ball,” never wavered. Even at 5-1 down, Kulusevski urged himself to step up, proving resilience in the face of adversity.
“It’s easy to play when you’re winning,” Kulusevski said. “If you want to be a man, step up now and do your best. That’s what we did.” His determination shone as he scored Spurs’ second goal, keeping hopes alive briefly before Liverpool sealed the win.
Despite the loss, the team stayed true to their attacking philosophy, a hallmark of Postecoglou’s approach. But Kulusevski acknowledged the need for balance. “We have to learn,” he admitted. “We conceded six goals. We’re not perfect, and we have to adapt.”
Injuries to key players added to the challenge, with Spurs missing eight starters and playing their third game in a week. By contrast, Liverpool looked fresher and sharper, dominating large parts of the game.
Kulusevski hinted at finding smarter ways to manage games without abandoning their style. “Maybe we should’ve let them have the ball more, but that’s not how we play. We gave everything, and it didn’t work. We have to change for the better.”
Next up for Spurs is a Boxing Day trip to Nottingham Forest, where they’ll face former manager Nuno Espírito Santo. For Kulusevski and his teammates, it’s another chance to learn, adapt, and push forward in their exciting yet demanding journey under Ange-ball.
