Kylian Mbappé has resumed training with the France squad in Paderborn after breaking his nose in the Euro 2024 opener. France’s coach Didier Deschamps confirmed that Mbappé will need surgery, likely after the tournament.
The team is arranging a custom-made mask for the 25-year-old forward, who wore wound-closure strips and participated in light, non-contact drills.
Mbappé is expected to miss France’s match against the Netherlands on Friday but is hopeful for a return later in the tournament. He posted on Instagram, “Sans risqué il n’y pas de victoires” (Without risks, there are no victories), alongside a smiling emoji.
France midfielder Adrien Rabiot remains confident in Mbappé’s quick recovery and the team’s ability to perform without him. “A fractured nose isn’t the end of the world,” Rabiot said. “We have great players on the bench who can step up if needed.”
France will face Poland in their final Group D match on Tuesday.
