Pep Guardiola concedes Ederson might leave Manchester City this summer

Pep Guardiola has confirmed Ederson might leave Manchester City this summer. Having spent the past seven seasons at the club, the Brazilian goalie has won six Premier League titles as well as the Champions League.

Ederson has two years left on his present contract with City, but he has been linked to a trip to Saudi Arabia lately. Following City’s 4-3 pre-season loss to Celtic in North Carolina yesterday, Guardiola admitted that the 30-year-old might depart the club earlier rather than later.

“I’m not sure; he must see perhaps now other options,” Guardiola stated. Naturally, I would prefer him to remain. Right now depends on the clubs. I’m not sure the circumstances exist. Not communication in the last few days. Training and remaining with us until the transfer window closes will help us to observe what happens.

Kevin De Bruyne before the game against Celtic

When asked regarding Kevin De Bruyne before the game against Celtic, Guardiola’s apprehension contrasted with his feelings.

The manager said De Bruyne was not departing, but Ederson, who has made 332 visits for the club since signing from Benfica for £34.9m in June 2017, looks poised to decide whether or not to bring his time in Manchester to a conclusion this summer.
