Ruben Amorim’s visa is still pending despite his Manchester United employment

Ruben Amorim did not receive a visa for his first day as Manchester United’s head coach on Monday, preventing him from attending the inaugural training session.

While United hope the visa to be granted soon, it is unclear what duties Amorim may perform until then. He will arrive at the club on Monday.

Ruben Amorim

Since Amorim could only practice with the whole squad on Thursdays, when all United players return from international duty, the visa wait should not hamper his preparations.

After coming back from 2-0 down at halftime, Amorim left Sporting on Sunday night with a 4-2 triumph against Braga. With 11 wins in 11 Primeira Liga games, he leaves the Portuguese champions unbeaten.

After the win, Amorim discussed his new role. “It’s going to be difficult, I’m not under any illusions,” he remarked. “I’m ready for the new challenge. It will be different and challenging, I’m not naive. After calming down, I can focus on my new work and am excited to start tomorrow.”

As the sixth permanent successor to Sir Alex Ferguson, who retired in May 2013, Amorim inherits a squad unbeaten in four under interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy after Erik ten Hag’s sacking.

Van Nistelrooy

Van Nistelrooy finished his stay unblemished with three wins, including Sunday’s 3-0 win over Leicester at Old Trafford.

Van Nistelrooy’s future under Amorim is uncertain. “We will learn what the further plan is now,” he remarked. I support the club and wish to continue.

I was told after this block of four matches, you and your colleagues will be informed about the future, so I expect to hear today or tomorrow.

Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes, United’s opener against Leicester, said: “Ruud van Nistelrooy feels the club, he loves the club, he wants to bring joy to the players.

He made us grin at the games and wanted us to enjoy them. As managers, we wanted to say goodbye to him properly because he helped us.”

Fernandes said of Amorim: “It’s a new era, a new manager means everything changes, but what hasn’t changed is that this club has to get back to where it belongs.”

Steve Cooper updated Jamie Vardy and Ricardo Pereira’s injuries. Jamie is unsure because he had a back blow last week and hasn’t recovered.

Leicester’s manager says they’re still negotiating. “Ricky has a more serious hamstring injury and will be out for four months, which is disappointing.”
