Ole Gunnar Solskjær

Solskjær Linked With Shock Interim Return at Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjær could make a surprise return to Manchester United as interim manager, with the club’s leadership considering him a strong short-term option.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær is reportedly open to the role, and his return would be welcomed by senior players, including Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire. The Norwegian remains a fan favourite after his previous spell at Manchester United.

Solskjær first took charge in December 2018 as caretaker, replacing José Mourinho, before being appointed permanently. During his time, United finished in the top three twice and reached the 2021 Europa League final.

The club’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, and chief executive Omar Berrada are said to believe Solskjær could quickly improve results and restore positivity.

Former midfielder Michael Carrick, who previously served as caretaker, is also a candidate, along with current interim head coach Darren Fletcher.

Meanwhile, Oliver Glasner has dismissed talk of a future move to United, saying he is fully focused on his job at Crystal Palace.

For now, United’s focus remains on stabilising the season, with Solskjær emerging as a familiar and trusted option to steady the ship.
