Osimhen is reportedly interested in joining Stamford Bridge, and Napoli is negotiating a three-year contract for Romelu Lukaku. Paris Saint-Germain were the frontrunners to sign the 25-year-old, but they haven’t agreed on a fee.
Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has set a €130m (£110m) release clause for Osimhen, who has trained separately from Antonio Conte’s group and has not played in pre-season.
Chelsea sources have stated they will not pay his release clause, although they may have considered loaning Osimhen with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Lukaku, who returns to Chelsea’s Cobham training base this week after two loan spells at Inter and Roma, may be key to a move for Osimhen. After agreeing to personal terms with Napoli, the Belgium striker has two years left on his club-record £97.5m contract from 2021. Chelsea previously demanded £30m.
