Declaring it would be the “biggest loss of face in the history of football,” Jürgen Klopp has ruled himself out of the race to succeed Gareth Southgate, claiming he would have a sabbatical from the game so soon after leaving Liverpool.
Along with Eddie Howe, Graham Potter, and Mauricio Pochettino, Klopp has been connected with the national team role left empty by Southgate following England’s Euro 2024 final loss by Spain.
But the German, who left Liverpool at the end of last season following a tremendously successful nine-year career at Anfield because he was “running out of energy,” has now sought to distance himself from such conjecture.
” Right now, employment are hardly at all plentiful. No club, no nation, stated Klopp, addressing the International Coaches’ Congress in Würzburg.
“A few individuals might not have heard this section. And if you said, “I’ll make an exception for you now,” you would be losing the most face in football history.

“Perhaps we might discuss it once more in few months. Using my contacts and knowledge, I still like to work in football helping others. Let’s see what more I might find.
Among those connected with the open post left by Southgate’s departure is Lee Carsley, manager of the England Under-21s.
Whoever takes leadership of the senior team will be looking for qualification for the World Cup 2026, which is set to be hosted Mexico and north America.
