Regarding Enzo Fernández’s participation in shouts including racial and homophobic slights regarding members of the France team, Chelsea have “started an internal disciplinary procedure.”
On Instagram, Fernández uploaded a video featuring himself and Argentina colleagues commemorating their triumph over Colombia in the Copa América final.

Later apologies by the midfielder said the video did not “reflect my beliefs or my character”.
Wesley Fofana, a Chelsea teammate of Fernández, attacked the “uninhibited racism” and the French Football Federation declared it would launch a judicial complaint.

It has questioned responses from the Argentina Football Association president, Claudio Fabián Tapia, and the Fifa president, Gianni Infantino.
Chelsea said: “Chelsea Football Club finds any types of discriminating behaviour totally unacceptable. Being a varied, inclusive club where people from various cultures, ethnicities, and identities feel welcome makes us very proud.

We value and accept the public apology of our player, so we will have a chance to educate. The club is starting an internal disciplinary process.
Fernández apologised honestly for the video on Instagram. “There is absolutely no excuse for highly offensive language used in the song,” he said.

“I apologise for becoming caught up in the euphoria of our Copa América festivities; I stand against prejudice in all forms. That film, that instant, those words, do not capture my values or nature. I really regret it.
