Salah feels ‘more out than in’ after failed Liverpool contract offer

Mohamed Salah is frustrated that Liverpool has not offered him a new contract and feels “probably more out than in” about remaining beyond the end of the season.

The uncertainty surrounding Salah’s future is one of the few areas of concern amid a spectacular start under Arne Slot, whose team leads the Premier League by eight points after ten wins in his first twelve games.

Salah’s shocking comments will heighten Liverpool fans’ suspicions that the forward will leave when his contract expires in the summer. “Well, we are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club,” says the 32-year-old. “I am probably more outside than within.

“You are aware that I have been a member of the club for a number of years. There is no club like this. However, in the end, it is beyond my control. As I previously stated, it is December and I have yet to receive any information about my future.

When asked if he was frustrated by Liverpool’s lack of offers, Salah said, “Of course, yeah.” I adore the fans. The fans adore me. Finally, neither I nor the fans have control over the situation. “Let us wait and see.”

He claimed he had not communicated with the club regarding the lack of an offer. “I’m not planning to retire anytime soon, so I’m just playing, focusing on the season, and trying to win the Premier League and possibly the Champions League as well. “I am disappointed, but we will see.”

Ramy Abbas and Salah

Liverpool are said to be at ease with the issue, believing they have had positive talks with Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, and understand that any extension for their highest-paid player was never going to be a quick fix given he is paid a basic £350,000 per week.

Salah offered to speak to the media after scoring twice in a victory over Southampton. In September, Salah explained: “Nobody in the club talked to me yet about contracts so I was just like: ‘OK, I play my last season and see at the end of the season.'”

Virgil van Dijk

The Egypt international has five weeks until he can sign a pre-contract deal with a foreign club. He was previously linked with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia. “I don’t want to speak about that,” he told me. “I am focused on the team now.”

Liverpool’s captain, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are both out of contract next summer. Slot said of Salah’s double at St Mary’s, which featured the game-winning penalty kick: “We always know we can rely on him when things are tough for us. “Special players can score goals out of nowhere.”
